Unscripted comedy on Saturday

Jus Trufs in association with the Improv Comedy Bangalore presents Jus Improv, a night of unscripted, unexpected hilarity.

Improv comedy is a comic art form where the audience comes up with ideas for short humorous skits and situations and the comedians enact that situation in a completely unscripted manner.

Modern improvisational comedy, as it is practiced in the West, falls generally into two categories: shortform and longform.

Shortform improv consists of short scenes usually constructed from a predetermined game, structure or idea and driven by an audience suggestion. Many shortform exercises were first created by Viola Spolin, who called them theater games, influenced by her training from recreational games expert Neva Boyd. The shortform improv comedy television series Whose Line Is It Anyway? has familiarized American and British viewers with shortform.

Longform improv performers create shows in which short scenes are often interrelated by story, characters or themes. Longform shows may take the form of an existing type of theatre, for example a full-length play or Broadway-style musical.

Regardless of the form which is adopted, what is widely accepted, is that what ensues is comedy in its purest essence.
