In a rare treat for Hindi theatre lovers, Jus’ Trufs is presenting two
plays, Bazaar and Batwara, on November 13.
Written by Saadat Hasan Manto and Munshi Premchands and directed by Parag
Dubey, both the plays will be performed one after the other
Bazaar is a comedy that could fit the description of any market. It can
be your bazaar, the bazaar you go every weekend to shop, to eat or just to
roam about. All you see at such a place is is happiness, smiles and money. But
what people don’t know is the inside story of the bazaar.
This play brings you those stories, stories of people making a living
from this bazaar, of the people who you don’t meet every day, a lady who sweeps
and cleans the market every morning, a prostitute who tries to ply her trade
and policeman on the beat who is in love with a girl he met here.
The cast is Santoshi Chakraborty, Ayush Bisariya and Raghav Tripathi.
The play starts at 6 pm.
This is followed by Batwaara again written by Manto and Premchand and
directed by Dubey.
It’s a collage of three beautiful stories, depicting the pain of the
partition of India. It tells us three different stories of people facing the
struggles during partition which includes an old man in search of his daughter,
two brothers coming from Lahore to Amritsar leaving everything behind and a mad
man from Lahore.
The partition that changed their lives forever, was not only the
partition of India, but their hearts too.
With a little humour added, the play takes the audience through the
journey of this horrifying phase of their lives.
This performance starts at 8 pm.
