Hebbal gets Railway pedestrian underpass

Foundation stone laid for Pedestrian underpass under Hebbal flyover rail line

Years after the Hebbal flyover soared over the single line railway track, thousands of pedestrians who were crossing the track to get between the two bus stops will finally get some relief.

Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda and Hebbal MLA Y.A. Narayanaswamy on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a pedestrian underpass at the spot.

Over the years this dangerous spot has seen many accidents, including some fatalities.

"It's been almost 18 years since the flyover came up. Thousands of pedestrians negotiate this dangerous stretch daily to reach Hebbal bus stops on the Airport road and below the flyover on the Outer Ring Road. This should have been planned years ago," says Krishna Murthy a Hebbal resident.

The Union Minister, under whose North Bangalore MP constituency Hebbal comes, requested citizens to keep a check on the quality of the infrastructure works.

He has also urged citizens to download  Hebbal MLA Narayanswamy's app - Hebbal Samparka - where citizens can lodge complaints on civic issues. To download, click  the link here  https://www.hebbalsamparka.com/
The pedestrian underpass will be a boon as once suburban railway services start on this Yeswantpur-Banaswadi rail line, it will make it impossible for pedestrians to cross.
