After the inaugural, Hindustani vocalist Sangita Katti enthralled the audience in her unique style. The event also witnessed a half-hour of soul-rending Bhajans and Vachana Gayana by Basavaraja Mugalakhoda and a one-hour long folk dance form of Karnataka – Yakshagana – by Kumari Arpita Hegde and her troupe.

The festivities was inaugurated by the state chief secretary Subhash Chandra Khuntia. BIAL is showcasing the festival in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture.

Senior executives from BIAL, including its Executive Director and President Hari Marar and others were also present.

For those going to the airport to see off their friends and loved ones, or transiting passengers, KIA has a lot to offer these three days.

South India’s unique tradition of Dasara has been reflected in the display of Gombe at the kerb. The mélange of dolls depict gods, puranas, everyday life and characters from Hindu mythology. Observed during Navaratri, the nine holy nights, Kolu marks a prosperous beginning through divinity and togetherness.

Dasara at the KIA Airport will also encourage travellers to send festive greetings to their loved ones on curated postcards that have been created by hearing-impaired children from the Mathru School, Bengaluru, which are being distributed free.

Donation boxes have also been set up at the Terminal where passengers can make contributions towards the purchase of Braille books for visually-impaired children at Mathru School. BIAL will match these donations with an equal amount of money.

The three-day Dasara festival at the kerb is open for both travellers and visitors to the Airport. Those biking or driving down to the airport for a hot cuppa can visit the expansive celebrations and soak in the festive atmosphere.
